Finding remote GTM engineer jobs at Series A and B startups

Apex Inc.

Apex Inc.

Start with startup and VC portfolio boards (Wellfound, Y Combinator's Work at a Startup, a16z's portfolio board), then add GTM-specific sources (Clay's job board and the Clay Community Share Jobs channel) and remote boards (We Work Remotely, Remote Rocketship). Filter by funding stage, set alerts, and pitch hiring managers directly with a one-page audit.

This is the job search companion to the guide on how to become a GTM engineer. Job counts below are as of October 27, 2026, and they move daily.

Key points

  • VC portfolio boards such as a16z's let you filter by company stage.

  • Clay's job board and Clay Community list roles by the GTM engineer title, often posted by the hiring manager.

  • Wellfound showed 12,042 remote results and a16z's board showed 18,392 jobs across 690 companies on October 27, 2026.

  • Confirm Series A or B status on a funding database or the company's own announcement before you apply.

  • A one-page audit sent to the hiring manager stands out from portal applications.

How do startup and VC portfolio boards differ?

Startup boards list many companies across many investors. VC portfolio boards list only one firm's companies but often let you filter by stage, which is the filter that matters most for this search.

Wellfound

Wellfound shows a salary range on every listing and equity on many, such as 0.005% to 0.01%, or states "No equity." There is no funding stage filter, so use the company card stage labels as a first pass.

Y Combinator's Work at a Startup

YC's jobs pages cover "over 1,000 YC startups" and let you "Apply to thousands of startup jobs with a single profile."

On the sales page, Trellis AI (W24) listed a GTM Engineer role at $100K to $175K, San Francisco or Remote (US). Jiga (W21, 25 team members) posted a remote GTM Engineer role at $80K to $140K with 0.01% to 0.10% equity, asking for Clay, Attio, APIs and AI workflow experience. YC files GTM engineer roles under sales or marketing, so check both.

a16z and other VC boards

The a16z board shows "690 companies. 18,392 jobs." and has both a Company Stage dropdown and a Remote options toggle. Set stage to Series A and Series B, turn on remote, and search "GTM engineer," "growth engineer" and "RevOps."

Many other firms run boards on Getro, which says it is "Trusted by 850+ network-powered teams." Accel's Getro board has an "On-site & Remote" dropdown but no stage filter.

Where do GTM-specific job listings show up?

In communities built around GTM tools and revenue work. These listings use the exact title more often, and posters are often the hiring managers.

Clay's job board. Clay runs a board for "professionals skilled in Clay," covering sales, marketing, RevOps and growth. It filters by location and category only, so scan for remote in each listing.

Clay Community Share Jobs. The channel rule reads: "Post Clay-or-GTME-related jobs. Always include company, salary, location, and time zone!" On October 27, 2026, the first 15 posts included several GTM engineer roles, among them a remote full-time GTM Engineer post and a contract role at $800 to $3,000 a month plus bonuses.

RevGenius. The Jobs link on the RevGenius site goes to Revenue Pipeline, a board titled "Revenue and GTM Jobs." Use it for RevOps-titled roles that are GTM engineering work in practice.

If you are unsure whether a "RevOps engineer" post is the same job, the explainer on what a GTM engineer is lists the work that defines the role.

How do you filter for Series A and B companies?

Use a board with a stage filter first, then confirm each company's last round on a funding database or the company's own announcement. Stage labels on job boards can lag a new round by months.

The Crunchbase funding types glossary calls Series A and B "funding rounds for earlier stage companies" and puts them at $1M to $30M on average. To filter companies by round, it points to search with Crunchbase Pro, a paid plan.

Harmonic, built for investors, describes a database of "30M+ companies and 190M+ people" with alerts when a company raises a round. It sells through demos with no listed free tier.

A free stage check for any company:

  1. Read the company's press or blog page for the latest funding announcement and its date.

  2. Check the board's stage label (a16z's Company Stage, Wellfound's stage card, the YC batch).

  3. Look at team size. Compare headcount on the board or company page with the stage label. A 25-person team that calls itself "Scale Stage" deserves a second check.

  4. Read the job post for scope. "First GTM engineer" or "founding GTM" usually means you will own the whole system.

Stage also moves pay, and the GTM engineer salary guide shows how company type and level change posted ranges.

What search strings and alerts should you set up?

Use three title variants, one tool keyword and one remote term, then save each search as an alert. Google's site: operator finds job pages hosted on applicant tracking systems.

Where

Search string

LinkedIn or Wellfound

"GTM engineer" OR "go-to-market engineer" OR "growth engineer"

LinkedIn, remote filter on

("GTM engineer" OR "RevOps engineer") AND Clay

Google

site:jobs.ashbyhq.com "GTM engineer" remote

Google

site:job-boards.greenhouse.io "GTM engineer" remote

Google

site:jobs.lever.co "GTM engineer" remote

a16z board

GTM engineer, stage Series A or B, remote on

Alert settings that keep your inbox useful:

  • Daily, not instant, on LinkedIn and general boards, so you review one batch each morning.

  • Instant on small GTM channels like Clay Community, where a fast reply is often the advantage.

  • One alert per title variant, so you can drop the titles that return nothing.

Remote Rocketship's paid plan adds hourly or daily saved-search alerts plus salary, visa and seniority filters.

How do you approach the hiring manager directly?

Find the person the role reports to and send a short note with a one-page audit of their public GTM motion. At a Series A or B company, that is often a head of sales, head of RevOps or a founder.

The audit does the work a cover letter cannot. It shows you found a real gap in their funnel, put an illustrative cost on it and ranked three fixes. The GTM engineer interview audit guide covers how to build it from public signals and test their inbound path honestly.

A direct approach in five steps:

  1. Identify the hiring manager from the job post, the company team page or LinkedIn.

  2. Build the one-page audit using only public information: site, pricing, demo form and job posts.

  3. Send a three-sentence message. Name the role, name the one finding with the biggest cost, and offer the page.

  4. Apply through the portal as well, so the application is on file when they look you up.

  5. Follow up once after a week with a second finding.

The guide to building an AI outbound system covers research, personalization and follow-up, and the same steps work for a 20-company job search.

Not ready to make the hire yet? If you run revenue at a Series A or B company and read this from the hiring side, the 90-day AI RevOps Sprint is the fractional route: up to three RevOps workflows built in your CRM, documented so your future GTM engineer inherits a working system. What does a weekly job search routine look like?

Five short blocks cover sourcing, research, outreach and follow-up. This illustrative routine takes about six hours and sends three audits a week.

Day

Block

Output

Monday

Review alerts from every board, shortlist roles

8 to 12 roles on a tracker

Tuesday

Confirm stage, team size and hiring manager for each

5 qualified targets

Wednesday

Build one-page audits for the top 3

3 audits

Thursday

Send direct notes and portal applications

3 direct notes, 5 applications

Friday

Follow up on last week's notes, post in one community

Follow-ups sent, one public post

The Friday post compounds. Sharing what you built in a GTM community or on LinkedIn gives founders a reason to message you, and the B2B creator operator playbook covers building in public without turning every post into a pitch.

Track each role in a spreadsheet with five fields: company, stage, hiring manager, date contacted and next step. The tools I use for tracking and drafting are on the stack page.

A short fixed session each week keeps the search moving: capture what happened, structure it into your tracker, and flag the gaps to close next week.

What are the common mistakes in a remote GTM engineer job search?

The most common mistake is searching only for the exact title, because many roles that fit carry another name.

  1. Searching one title. Add "growth engineer," "RevOps engineer" and "GTM operations" to every alert.

  2. Trusting the remote label. Wellfound's remote search still shows some in-office roles, and many remote roles are limited to one country, like "Remote (US)."

  3. Trusting the stage label. Confirm the last round and its date before you write the audit.

  4. Confusing contract and full-time posts. In Clay Community, per-meeting and monthly contract offers sit beside salaried roles.

  5. Applying only through portals. At a 30-person company, the hiring manager is easy to find and often reads direct notes.

  6. Ignoring pay data. Compare each posted range with public medians before the first call.

  7. Stopping at full-time roles. Contract and fractional work can lead to a full-time offer or become a business of its own, as the guide to a portfolio career for operators covers.
